Why not do some entirely new things, regarding awards? Maybe some "cash" awards for at least a dozen folks to win(just a number), to pay for travel expenses,etc.....I know 50/50 is one, but get imaginative...HOW about a BINGO parlor night(s)Really good Prizes will bring in the folks for this?:). I hear its BIG in the east, yes? Auctions anyone? Do an "Auction" for charity or whatever reason comes up. Find contributors:). A real Auctioneer can be had, I'm sure(sell your bike, etcetc)! Anything else, I'm think'in? Happy trails, Randy:thumb :usa

You can be in charge. :evil :ha

Seriously, though, if you want to do something like that, talk to Vance.

Randy, great thread! (also, nice to see a thread with a smilie in it these days!).

I don't know how popular Bingo is in the EastÔÇöat least, er, my part of the EastÔÇöbut it's possible that a Jeopardy!-like trivia game could draw a good number of people and be a lot of fun. Bubba Z could weigh in on this; he's pretty good at trivia.

Bear:
Have suggested an auction in the past - even wrote up a detailed description of how to accomplish the job. Not a nibble of interest. But if anyone is interested I could dig out the details again - right down to magic markers and boxes for shipping.

Keep it alive:)

You know like me, things get done with much proding and poking about:). I'm trying to stir the pot some and will be there to have fun, volunteering or whatever. I chaired the GS Trials last year in Gillette and had a wonderful time doing it....Anybody can chime in here, so lets hear it for some NEW activities, awards,etc....I like the Bingo thing and have not done this since way back in my youth. An Auction would be very interesting too, I feel. Just have to have the knowledge of getting one started. Is it too much work? I'm asking! I know Bingo card sales are representative of the "awards" on the table for "Bingo"...Some work here for contributors has to be a given task, of course...It can also be CASH awards, based on card sales. Is it LEGAL in Johnson City, is another good question???Jeopardy was mentioned, a favorite of mine, but how? I am very willing to hear from the masses and get something new started....Randy, Polarbear:)PS; Last year, we did GS Events and its carrying over to this year, I hear. It was "new" to the National Rally and exciting for a few riders and spectators alike...I hope the Tenn . folks have something really swell planned for the GS'ers...Later:dance

A couple of thoughts:

1) Legal issues. Just as the beer garden must be compliant with local & state laws, so do gambling enterprises. And selling raffle tickets can be construed as gambling. Do your homework.

2) Many times the rally strongly discourages any fund raising that is not geared towards the charity. Our donations to local charities can be somewhat paltry as it is --- it would be a shame if different groups were vying for the rally-goer's money.

But you brought up an interesting concept. Might be worth noodling about it. Good Luck.

If you're looking for a Jeopardy-style motorcycle game already formatted to a DVD, I know of one such - we use it prior to the start of some of our MSF BRC classes as a pre-challenge to student knowledge.

It was created by the former Lead RiderCoach at the technical school where I teach. He is now the head of our Motorcycle Safety Program for the State of Wisconsin, Greg Patzer.

Here is how you could contact him if you are interested in creating such an opportunity for winning prizes. See if he is willing to share it - one could substitute questions and answers germaine to an MOA Rally with little effort, I suspect.

Just a thought.

When you suggest something, you should be ready to be the person that has to implement it. :D

Guess "Daves" right!

Sometimes, putting ideas out here first gets some feel for an idea and if it has any merit:). Bingo as gambling is such, I suppose but such a mild event, vs casinos...I know it may well be an issue in some parts of the country, so Johnson City, chime in. Anybody 'moa live there in Tenn. know more??? If its going to be a 10000 member rally, I imagine funds for charities and elsewhere will be abundant, vs. prior years! And, I will admit "guilt" to Dave S., my lifestyle/family may prevent me from even going this year, but maybe:). Been to many, many however and we do our share of the labor, volunteering. Its a good thing:). Lets TRY to make more new stuff happen at the rallies, if at all possible....Adds flavor to it all:)....Randy PS; I sure want to add thanks to the folks doing Tenn. this year, as its a Lions Task, work untold, I'm sure....:usa :thumb
