Fulmer helmet recall

The Fulmer helmet recall is still in effect. If this is old news, someone delete it.

January, 2007

Dear Fulmer Helmet Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Subject: Helmet Recall

Reason For This Recall
Fulmer Helmets has decided that certain sizes of Fulmer AF-M Modus and SN-M Snow helmets failed to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218, ÔÇ£Motorcycle Helmets.ÔÇØ

The helmets affected are only the XL, XXL and XXXL AF-M Modus and the XL, XXL, XXXL SN-M Snow produced between November 2001 and April 2006. There is a manufacturer date under the helmet comfort liner that should be checked.
Consequences: In the event of a crash, the helmet may not provide adequate protection to the wearer, possibly resulting in injuries.

Compliance: The problem has been corrected on all Fulmer AF-M and SN-M helmets made after April 2006 and these newer helmets are in compliance with all Federal requirements.

Rider safety is our top concern and Fulmer is cooperating fully with the NHTSA.

What Helmet Owners Should Do
If you own an XL, XXL or XXXL size, check the manufacturer date under the comfort lineer inside the helmet to see if the date is between November 2001 and April 2006.

If you have an affected helmet, call Fulmer Helmets at 1-800-489-2300 Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30PM CST. One of our customer service representatives will instruct you how to receive a new helmet.

What Fulmer Will Do

Fulmer will send you a UPS ÔÇ£call tagÔÇØ to pick up your helmet at no cost to you after you package it. When we receive your helmet, we will replace your non-compliant helmet with a compliant helmet of the same size and model at no cost to you.

We apologize for this inconvenience but wearer safety is our first concern and we want you to have a safe ride.

If you have any problems with replacement of your helmet you can contact the NTSA at the address below.

Randy,

It may be old news to some, but I hadn't heard it before and I have one of the recalled helmets.:uhoh

Thank you very much for posting!

My new Fulmer arrived last week. Holy smokes.

Metal fittings. Improved, safer latch. Better vents. Improved liner and better fit.

It's a keeper.
