What are you listening to today?

Talking Timbuktu with Ry Cooder and Ali Fourka Touré is one of my favourite albums and was my gateway into contemporary African music.

Buena Vista Social Club was landmark too, I was glad I got to see the film in a theatre, it was super. The scene of he and his son riding in a sidecar rig through the streets of Havana was great.

RIP Charlie Pride

Charlie Pride, another victim of COVID related illness.

Charlie Pride was an entertainer that could entertain all by himself.....he didn't need an entourage and fireworks on stage to be entertaining.

RIP Charlie Pride.

Beethoven’s Fedelio, yesterday; today a light mix of Xmas classical music, with three candles at breakfast. Serenity being the key to sanity these days. Courage, serenity, wisdom. Niebuhr.

Another version of Lost Highway:

For King & Country, Zach Williams, Mandisa, Chris Tomlin, Hillsong United, Joshua Aaron, The Bonner Family, The Piano Guys, Stephen McWhirter/Jason Clayborn, Phil Wickham, Matt Maher...how's that for a lineup of music artists celebrating Christmas with The Chosen?

To honor the birth of Christ, and to commemorate the humble yet history-altering beginnings of The Greatest Story Ever Told, these musicians all performed their favorite Christmas songs, some on the incredible Jerusalem set of Season 2 of The Chosen.

Great Christmas special and an 8 part series is also available. Check it out.

Better than the original?

Maybe I'm getting older, but this sure seems much better (to me) than the original -

Lost Tony Rice, age 69, one of the great flat pickers on guitar. Here he is with some heavy hitters - Sam Bush (mandolin), Bela Fleck (banjo), Jerry Douglas (dobro) to name a few!
