    Alvin Lee (R.I.P.)

The great Alvin Lee of Ten Years After fame died unexpectedly yesterday during what supposed to be a routine surgery. Much much more than the blazing fast gunslinger he gained the rep for (after TYA's Woodstock performance), Alvin Lee played guitar with heart and soul. Not only was he a master of guitar, but a master of The Blues as well...

Here are a bunch of Alvin Lee videos, some from Ten Years After, some solo, from later on. Enjoy.

Beach House - Lover of Mine

You never know what your local university radio station is going to serve up, and U of C's CJSW dropped this little gem on u, today (hey, even our daughter likes it):

For some reason, when I hear a piece like this, I hear Coldplay playing backup, like they did with Richard Ashcroft in "Bittersweet Symphony" at Live 8, knocking the ball right out of the park.

I'm listening to a new album, Old Yellow Moon, duets by Emmy Lou Harris and Rodney Crowell.

You would have to have a cold heart to not like these songs.

Emmy Lou's voice is still wonderful, And Rodney Crowell has written so many songs over the years that we all know - he still cranks out good tunes to this day. I may be wrong but I THINK at one time, the two were married, together, shacked up, whatever- a couple IOW. A new album from them together? No doubt it's great.
