The Necks

Going to see Australia's The Necks tonight in Brooklyn. One of the greatest (and least known) live bands in the world.

What's the difference between The Necks and a Uzzi machine gun ? The Uzzi only repeats itself 100 times !:banghead

:ha :ha

I've always had a bizarre and keen interest in minimalist/repetitive music. Especially if it's played on acoustic instruments.

I remember seeing Einstein on the Beach premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music back in the early 80s and by the third act (about 90 mins in) Phillip Glass, its composer, was snoring loudly in the row behind me.

Go to http://wilcoworld.net/causes . I am listening to the Keyspan park show... Great band, great show...

Ahhh....just reminiscing. Here are some lyrics and the first one to identify the song, the original artist and original year it was written (without internet help :nono) gets a beer from me. :beer

Her young face was like that of an angel
Her long legs were tanned and brown
Better keep your eyes on the road, son
Better slow this vehicle down

Today, I am listening to " The Ballad of Curtis Lowe"
Yesterday, it was "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down".

Michael Perry and the Long Beds

Have a new album coming out in March. Its called "Tiny Pilot". Got the pre order downloads. Sweet!!

I must be REALLY different. I'm listening to the Brahms Horn Trio.

Yes I'm classically inclined. While returning from a gig last summer (I'm a French Horn player) with my horn strapped on to the back on my 1105RT doing about 75 on the freeway when out of the blue I have a CHP motor in the lane left of me and another in the lane on the right of me. "I'm screwed" I think but get two thumbs up instead as they sped away. Think they might be classical music fans?

I'm currently listening to a classic example of not judging an album by it's cover:

I wouldn't touch anything that looked like this, haha. But, it's actually good. Scary..

I met a ridin' buddy, that lives just up the street, as a result of an article that was written up in the ON regarding his /5 restoration. This restoration was done in Cincinnati at a place called Autobahn Craftwerks.

You might wonder why this posting is in this thread - it seemed as logical a place as any - and on the above website is a motorcycle (mostly BMW airhead) themed music video made in and around the shop by a band called "500 miles to memphis"
