The Oley Valley isn't too far away from my house and I spend a lot of time riding in that area. This morning, as on most weekends, I went out for a morning ride and I remembered to take my camera this time. I thought I'd ride to the two covered bridges I know of in the Oley Valley. With the long summer days upon us, I was out of the house by 5:30 and headed west through Gilbertsville, Boyertown and Yellow House. With a clear sky, it's nice to have the rising sun behind me.
I stopped at the country church near the first bridge.
The first bridge is in the nicest setting. No one was fishing in the creek this morning.
The second bridge isn't far from the first.
It seems everything in the area has "bridge" in it's name.
Time to move on...
A short ride away is Pikeville...
but I didn't stay long there either.
The road to Landis Store is quite nice.
A short distance away is Fredericksville and more curves, and yes it was an enjoyable 1/2 mile.
In Mertztown I turned and headed for home...
...(slowly, of course - I took this as more of a recommendation).
My last stop was in Huff's Church.
It was getting on towards breakfast time so I headed home. I got home at 8 for my favorite breakfast.
Mmmm, blueberry pancakes.
100 miles before breakfast...I think it'll be a good day.
