The actual route consists of a little pavement, gravel forest service roads, some grassy (muddy) 2-track, a little atv/snowmobile trail (very little). The hero sections are single track trails on private land and vary in difficulty.

The biggest issue the club has concerns with is sound. You need to be under 96 Dba for the ride.

Gear. Helmet, gloves, and boots minimum I'd say. A chest protector, elbow and knees guards or an armor suit optional. But I'm old and wear as much as protective gear as I can. A backpack to hold the aforementioned gas bottle, a hydration pack (You can buy just the hydration inserts at Wal-mart for $9!) and a small tool kit consisting of 8,10,12,14 mm wrench, 4,5,6 and 8(if needed) allen wrench, spark plug wrench, spark plug. Maybe soem JB weld and duct tape.

I got a flat last year and had to ride back to the fairgrounds to change tubes, a tube and 2 small irons would have prevented that. Really, whatever you think you need to make emergency trail side repairs.

we have been giving to the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center the last 3 years. we finally got what we set out to do which is to "adopt" a couple labs actually doing research on breast and colon cancers. both at currently located on the UW campus and we hope to have researchers at the event talking about what they do , how it will effect us , and how the money we donate helps them. I know Matt and his professor are coming for sure , He found and figured some stuff out about breast cancer and how to treat it that could be extremely beneficial to 50 % of the people that get breast cancer that nothing else seems to work for. Kelly is doing colon cancer stuff, from the papers she has published there seems an even greater correlation between small amounts of exercise and diet and not getting colon cancer, to over simplify, eating wheat bread and taking a walk after work could keep it at bay ( at least that's what I understand of it). so all the money from the bike raffle the dollar raffles that we do at dinner sat night all will go to the 2 labs to help buy new equipment, supplies whatever they need but not to someones income/pocket. so far we have collected and donated over $30,000.

SAINT HUBERT'S SHRINE
Located near Goodman, Wisconsin. (Marinette County) The Shrine was started 52 years ago by a group of dedicated Hunters & Christians

Today, we can all enjoy the fruits of their labor! Stop in and experience the feeling of tranquility, that the founders felt when they stopped here in the morning, planing out the mornings hunt. They prayed to God to keep them safe, and to provide them with a successful hunt, that could feed them, and their families.

Friday night, Mike told me he was gonna ride the T-Dub 200 (Yamaha TW200, You know, the mini bike with the fat tires!)on Sunday's short "Thumper Route". I told him that he should ride it on the 140 mile Saturday route instead of riding his DRZ400.

To my surprise he rode it at a very good pace for the 140 mile Saturday's ride. T-Dubs Rock. :dance

The Wabeno rides are as much a "social rally event" as a Dual sport ride. It was nice to socialize with my fellow Wisconsin Dual Sport Club members,

. . .and to share a campfire with F.I.B., Fireman88, Lobster Crew, Shawn, Ray, Mike, Dan, Jim, Mark, Bob, Charley, Tony, Andrew, John, Ben, Brad . . .

One of the perks of membership in the Wisconsin Dual Sport Club are the so called work weekends. The Club rents the Trump Lake Lodge near Wabeno. Little John puts on his chef's hat and feeds all the workers.

During the day, club members ride the trails and trim branches that could swat riders in the face. Workers also remove dangerous rocks and unseen obstacles while recording mileage, marking GPS tracks and placing directional arrows on the route.

On Saturday of the work weekend, I volunteered to ride with PapaLobster with his GS and Elmer with his TW200 to check one of the routes. :bikesIt was a fun ride.

Another of the perks is "burning" a trail.
You need to ride hard to establish a path
to enable riders to follow the burned in path.

Road America Expands Vintage Motorcycle Weekend

Road America is adding new event
features to its annual vintage motorcycle weekend.

The Road America Vintage Motorcycle Classic, June 11-13, 2010, will mark the
return of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) with
the addition of motocross and cross country and trials on courses built
specifically for vintage racing. "Road America is acknowledged as a
world-class road racing facility. When we discovered that the property had
hundreds of acres of prime off-road terrain, we were pleased to add AHRMA
National Off-Road events to the traditional schedule of road racing," said
AHRMA Executive Director David Lamberth. Road America has a large motorcycle
racing fan base and always encourages vintage motorsports enthusiasm. Track
president George Bruggenthies is pleased with the expanded event, "The world
of vintage motorcycling is a vibrant, diverse family that includes,
collectors, restorers and enthusiasts who just love to ride old bikes, as
well as racers. Road America is a great place to celebrate that spirit,"
he stated.

Other race-weekend features are being added through a partnership with
longtime motorcycle events producer Will Stoner. Stoner is coordinating a
swap meet, club corrals and a moving bike show. "I'm excited to have the
opportunity to do a swap meet and bike show in such a fantastic location.
The swap meet area is one of the best I've seen, the roads are fantastic and
Wisconsin hospitality is great," Stoner said. The swap meet is open to all
brands of motorcycles, but is limited to bikes, parts, memorabilia and
tools. The on-site bike show will include judging with awards presented in
13 classes and a leisurely 40-mile ride through the scenic Wisconsin
countryside.

Club Corrals will be open to all vintage motorcycle clubs and organizations
wishing to have a corral spot on Club Row. The spaces will be free to any
club that registers by June 2, 2010. Clubs will be able to park their bikes,
sell memberships and club regalia, as well as have a picnic for club
members. Participants only need to purchase an advance event ticket to use
the Club Corrals.

Participant information for the swap meet, bike show and club corral is
available by contacting Will Stoner: 440-591-5099,
willstoner@classicswapmeets.com. Other event details will be posted as they
become available, at www.roadamerica.com.
