I Used to Be Someone
Despite 1,000+ entries in the Free Association thread, there are still some places we've not gone.

How about your best road side attractions here?

In 2005, Bennington, VT had Moose on the loose down town.

Kelly & Regis

A couple of years ago we were in Erie Penn. They had frogs painted up.

Not road side so much as road end attraction

Fairfax Stone that marks the headwaters of the Potomac River's northern branch ( the main one)

and the mighty Potomac itself....

Not many people can claim to have jumped across the Potomac, but I have!:laugh

July of 2003 I followed the Lewis and Clark Trail from St. Louis to the Pacific and back. I rode across Lemhi pass as I followed the Lewis and Clark Trail west.

Not much of a road at the top.

This was the main road side attraction I wanted to see on the entire trip.

Shortly after 10 am 7/26/03 I straddled the source of the Missouri River, cupped my hands and took a drink just as described in the journals.

This one might be hard to beat

Arco Idaho the first town to be lit by Atomic Power has Pickle's Place home of the Atomic Burger (of course I had one) with these out front. For perspective I'm 6'2" 245.

That may be strange enough, but across the street is this, the conning tower of the US Hawkbill, a nuclear powered sub in their submarine park, in the middle of Idaho.

Oh, and a Senator that became famous for something else later presided at the dedication ceremony.

This is from the Theresa Marsh, just down the road from the house.

RAT Tour

Years ago I participated in a R.A.T. Tour...

Rat stood for Road Anomaly Tour or any thing abnormal along the road.

I had a lot of fun with it, as they had tons if images/destinations to search out such things........

Unfortunately the fellow that was the inspiration passed away and the website went away.

Anyone else remember this? Know more about it? I have a bunch of pictures somewhere, I'll have to dig the out.

Voni............
I love you!
Thanks so much for posting this.

I tried to get involved way back, but things went away for a while and I lost contact with the whole thing. I had sent photo's in but they too got lost in the shuffle I guess.

Now I've got some picture taking to do!
