Post a pic of your Airhead

Not mine, but my dads 73 r75/5

Here is a pic I took last fall just before we towed it to my house for a teardown. Its still in pieces at the moment but I'm trying to get it back on the road for him. This photo is right after it was rolled out of covered outside storage since the early 90s. He has a habermann fairing, tank, windscreen and seat on this bike. From what he has told me only him and his friend have these fairings in the US. Hope I can get this bike back on the road sooner than later.

I managed to add 4+ pounds to my svelte frame.

Thought that looked like the main house at SongDog. I haven't been out there for years. Are they allowing camping again? (apparently, yes.)

Yes the area on the Mesa now has campsites available online, and there’s a trailer, Yurt and other accommodations as well. Most of their business is still groups.
The food at Songdog was excellent as usual! This is Friday nights menu.
The Chistorra was excellent as was everything else served that weekend.

One of my heads & it is a special

Here is a shot of my GS1000, we built it up here in Oz. Before this it was in built up to R100RT spec, fitted with a Velorex sidecar, leading link etc. For the purests I shudder to think if I should tell you what is was originally but it was made in Spandau in '76!

Another shot - same trip Farina Pubs Ruins on the Birdsville Track Central Australia

I built this in '96 for attending our bi-annual Off Centre Rallies as my 82 G/S while a good ride was not good enough compared to a Dakar / HPN approach (still have the 80 though - bought new in 82 - about 350,000km now)

Its new bike day and, dang, I’m excited!!

I’ve had a few BMWs in the past - a K1200RS, an R75/5 (that I flipped in my youth), and a 2000 R1100RA that I put 50k miles on in my 20s. I stupidly sold my beloved R1100RA about ten year ago to fund a full fairing commuter bike (Kawa Concours 1400) and have been missing a boxer ever since.

You know how everyone has that one cool as hell uncle? Well, mine rode an airhead, so I picked up this sweet little ‘78 R100/7 last week in a (likely failed) attempt to emulate him.

She’s in pretty good condition, all things considered, and I got her for a song. I’ll probably have the tins painted this winter and will also probably replace/refinish the exhaust. Otherwise there’s just some small bits and bobs to work out.

By the way, can someone tell me what this tag is for?

Welcome to the forum! Glad you're back in the BMW saddle again! The tins look fine from here...nothing wrong with patina, I say. As for the tag, I don't think there's anything worthwhile in the tag...something used by BMW.
