Crashed my 1966 R50/2. Need a repair shop

My '66 R50/2 tangled with a '49 Dodge pickup Saturday morning and lost. I'm looking for a resto or repair shop in the Connecticut area. I'd appreciate any suggestions or recomendations.

The bike isn't too bad. Broken aluminum fins in the left cylinder and head as well the mirror and bar end signal on the same side. These bikes a built like tanks. There were 3 Harleys behind me when it happened. The were shocked the bike looked as good as it did as commenmted that thier bikes would not have survived the beating nearly as well.
I fared about the same. A separated shoulder, a messed up helmet and some torn leather.
Could 'a been worse.

AJ's in Gill Ma. is about 75 miles north.

Or MAX BMW in Troy NY where they are a certified BMW restoration shop...

Or Cliff's BMW in Danbury where Phil Cheney ( a real /2 guru who knows more about those bikes than most people alive ) is still doing his magic.

+1 on both Max's (word of mouth says they're good) and on Phil (direct observations and conversations tells me he's good). You might want to see if Frank DeGray in Ellington (just north of the airport on rt 83) is still around. an old curmedgeon, but very knowledgable. also, check out the Vintage club.. http://www.vintagebmw.org/current/ Someone there (probably Roland) will know for sure who's teh best to go with.

I would look around for a good independent BMW mechanic. There's a lot of them out there that specialize on the older BMW bikes. Dealers are going to cost a small fortune.
