would like to use synthetic oils...what mileage should be on a R1200c before changing to synthetics?
 
Lots of good answers

You should change the oil to synthetic when the engine is worn in,and the piston rings are fully seated. Once camp says that 18,000 miles is enough miles, other people watch the gas mileage and wait for the mpg to level off. You could also watch the cylinder compression and when it gets to its top figures trhe rings should be seated. Yet, others say when the engine stops using oil.

I unsderstand new BMW cars come from the factory with synthetic oil in the crankcase.
