I'm 6'3" and have the BMW touring shield mounted on my R1150R. I get no noticable wind protection from the upper chest upwards. I'm thinking about alternatives first that would not require replacing the (new) BMW shield. I've seen adds for a product called microswirl edging from SAENG. Some claim this provides an extra 5 inches (up and sideways) of wind protection. If it works, this may be an inexpensive and attractive option (although 5 inches may not be enough).
I've also heard that some have used a longer top mount fastener and additional rubber gromets (against the shield on the inside) to move the shield in a slightly more vertical direction (I'd guess that only provides a small change in angle?)
Any thoughts on these two techniques? Any other options to reduce wind using the touring shield?
Thanks in advance to those who have "been there and done that." Bob
