Foodie seeking help

I'm sure there will be food venders at the rally, but I want to taste some of Minnesota.:eat
I used Google earth to look for restaurants in the area and found a few prospects.:hide
Checked out the Food Network site and found a few possibilities.
Looking for some local input, who makes the best Juicy Lucie, any Scandinavian restaurants,
the best breakfast, or any food worthy of triple D.:eat

Here ya go. Best BBQ I've had in a long time. Skip the pulled pork and go straight to the ribs: http://www.bigdaddysbbq-stpaul.com/
Within walking distance of the rally site.

Don't waist your time, money and effort on a Juicy Lucy....you'll burn your mouth and be sad.

My favorite Scandinavian restaurants in the Twin City metro area:

-Bachelor Farmer in downtown Minneapolis

-Fika Cafe in the Swedish Institute in south Minneapolis

-Finnish Bistro in St.Paul on Como Ave. just west of the fairgrounds

For just some good old Scandinavian food to buy in a market I go to Ingebretsen's Scandinavian Food and gifts on east Lake Street in south Minneapolis. It's a long standing local Scandinavian institution.

Well, not Scandinavian, but how about German? There's the Gasthof Zur Gemutlichkeit restaurant in NE Minneapolis. Lots of fun, good food, you even get the "dessert" apple schnapps and a shot of snoose up the nose, if you so desire.

Another very good German restaurant is in Hudson, Wisconsin, right across the border. It's called the Winzer Stube. Very good German food. I'd also recommend the pickled herring in cream sauce as an appetizer. Excellent.

You can Google either restaurant for the menu and directions.

I like Jucy Lucy's but what do I know. if you read Diane's article you will know where we like to eat them. Even the President (Obama) was there yesterday.

Breakfast, Keys has good food about a mile east of the fairgrounds. Colossal Cafe just a mile east is really good too.

There's a number of spots that have been featured on Triple D...have you tried researching on Guy's page on the Food Network website? That's what I'd be doing if I was attending the Rally!

Cheers! :drink

Something to consider about Minnesnowta - every culture on the planet emigrated there and promptly opened restaurants featuring their native cuisine. Eventually it fused with some of the local sensitivities.

Nicollet Avenue from 14th to 40th in Minneapolis is also called Eat Street because of this. Every possible type of fare with a north woods twang, ready for an epic crawl.

Yup. The article in the current ON is fantastic. I also like that there are a few places just outside the fairgrounds and easily accessible by foot. A couple not mentioned and also close-by, but probably a little farther than by foot: Mac's Fish and Chips, Key's Cafe and Maverick's roast beef.
Maverick's slow roasts their beef, along with brisket and turkey. Plus, they have a fixin's bar. At Key's, I highly recommend the Italian hash. :eat

Any other places that you're looking for? Being a local foodie, I can probably help you out.

I'll add a couple of my favorites

Brasa - http://www.brasa.us/ the St. Paul one is bigger if you are going for dinner.
Sea Salt http://seasalteatery.wordpress.com/menu/ - At Minnehaha Falls, best seafood you'll eat with a plastic fork. Get there early, lines get long early.
Zen Box - http://zenboxizakaya.com/ - Inland Japanese food (no sushi)
Birchwood Cafe - http://birchwoodcafe.com/ good healthy food.

Also the small brewerys often have good food trucks
Indeed http://www.indeedbrewing.com/
Fulton http://fultonbeer.com/index.php

That's a good list. I'm surprised that I didn't mention Brasa. That's a favorite of mine. And not too far of a ride (Larpenter, on the north end of the fairgrounds, turns into E. Hennepin).

Keys was in the article. Everything there is good. I'm seeing some places mentioned here that I have not tried and I have lived here my whole life. Now I have some new places on my list to try out. Sea Salt is fun and the falls are in full blast mode right now.

Thank you

Thank you all for your suggestions.
Now comes the hard part.
Three days, two meals a day, only six food stops.
And I don't want to overload the bike when we leave. :wave
